I’ll be honest; it’s taken me a while to get into the Christmas spirit this year. We’ve all been working so hard that the holidays have seemed very distant. Then, when I was out walking my dog a few days ago, I listened to Dean Martin’s ‘Baby its Cold Outside.’ And there it was. The smell of pine needles, the twinkling of lights, spending time with family. It really is the most wonderful time of the year, and what a great time for a wedding! Fear not, having a holiday themed wedding doesn’t mean your decor needs to be reminiscent of your staff Christmas party, or you have to walk down the aisle looking like Mrs. Claus (although if that is your thing, I salute you. Please send pictures).  There are many ways we can incorporate the magic of the holidays into our design without coming across too campy. I know my favorite part of the holidays is putting up my tree. The scent is incredible, and the lights are what create an enchanting ambience that we associate with this time of the year. By using winter greenery, woods and lights we can achieve the same affect without actually setting up a Christmas tree on the ceremony site. Drawing from this green, you can still produce the classic holiday complimentary color scheme by subtly adding splashes of red. This could be in the form of bridesmaids dresses, grooms attire, or mistletoe!
