Confession time: This wedding is from a year and a half ago. Which basically just proves how far behind I let the blog get this past year. Eek! It has been on my list of ones to share for a while now though, and I am stoked to finally be doing so! Kiki & Brad were married in May, 2015, on a beautiful sunny Spring day, at Starling Lane Winery (one of our favourite spots in the city). After finding us on Instagram, this very trusting and lovely couple passed over the design reigns, and I am so glad that they did! Getting to work with couples on the design is one of our absolute favourite things, and when they give us full creative license, it becomes even more fun!

After discovering Kiki's love for Anthropology, we got started with the design. We took inspiration from the French countryside, and the romantic, yet natural entertaining style found throughout quaint villages. We created an atmosphere that was relaxed yet vey chic, and fused pretty floral details, elegant high-end furnishings, and the dreamy season of Spring, to create a unique and fresh look. Fresh fruit overflowed at the reception, and an insanely gorgeous palette of navy, pink, peach, pink, blush & champagne was highlighted throughout the florals.

Beautiful Bouquets

With Valentines day just a few sleeps away, it seems like beautiful blooms are on display around every corner!! Flowers (I think, at least) are the best gift for your loved ones on V-Day, and will always be appreciated (I'm talking to you Nick). With this in mind, I've gone through the archives of all the beautiful real weddings I've had the honour of being a part of, and gathered my top 5 favourite Bridal bouquets. So, without further ado (and in no particular order).... 1. This Pender Island wedding holds a very special place in my heart, for many reasons....and the guinea feathers poking through in Nicole's soft and romantic bouquet, just so happens to be one of those reasons.

2. This textural beauty is so incredibly unique, and was perfectly fitting for this Farm wedding. And I could star at those rich colours all day long...I mean, black ranunculus' in a bouquet? Gorgeous!!!!

3. This soft and natural inspired bouquet, just oozed romance! The splashes of chocolate cosmos, mixed with berries, lush roses, and soft ferns, was utter perfection for this farm to table wedding. I'm pretty sure I could stare at this one all day!

4. This one had me at hello. The rich colour palette, textural elements, flowing ribbon...it was even more stunning in person! And making it even more special, a lady slipper orchid was added at the last minute by chance, which just so happened to be the national flower of Singapore (the Bride's home)

5. This sweet posy was filled with so much goodness, I can hardly stand it!! Featuring my personal favourite flower of all time, the Anenome, it couldn't not make this list! And the perfect balance of texture and soft blooms, makes it perfectly west coast!

The Weekend Roundup...delayed part 1

Well folks, I have officially come to the end of my wedding season (more to come on that next week!), and I would be lying if I said that the last month and a bit wasn't tough. Don't get me wrong, I loved every. single. minute. of it...but as anyone who is involved in the wedding industry will understand, August is crazy!! lol! Some reflections, and an official roundup of the whole season is going to be on the blog later next week, but for now, I am going to be catching up some very late (better late than never, right?!) Weekend Roundups. My last 3 weeks of weddings were just too good not to share with you all! First up, the weekend of August 24th was spent at the always spectacular, Birds Eye Cove! A personal favourite venue of FKE, this one was special! I have absolutely adored working with this couple over the past year, and helping to design the wedding of their dreams. Everything from the food, to flowers, to music, was utter perfection, and with a seriously amazing team of vendors (The London Chef, Clare Day Flowers, Conscious Hair & Beauty and Style by Erin Bradley, to name a few), this is definitely one of the top weddings of the season! Only negative of the weekend: my inability to walk properly, thanks to a bruised knee that lasted me the rest of the season lol! Oh man...the hazards of dog walking... But thanks to my incredible team of FKE ladies, we were able to pull it off like champs!

Thank you so much, to the crazy beautiful UK based fine art blog, Wedding Sparrow, for featuring this incredible shoot earlier this week!! Working with such an incredibly creative and talented team, was a total dream, and then getting to share it on such a gorgeous blog, is the cherry on top!! Thank you SOOO much to Adrian Michael Photography, for once again, blowing my mind with your stunning images! I just cannot wait for you to finally move here! A HUGE thank you as well to Clare Day Flowers and Joanna Delaney Dressmaking for asking me to collaborate with you on this shoot. Designing a shoot around the dresses was such a fabulous approach, and I am thrilled with the results! And thank you so much to both Conscious Hair by Elena, Melanie Baird Makeup Artistry, and Laura Lavender Calligraphy, for joining our team, and being just so darn good at what you do! FKE featured on Style Me Pretty Canada

Today, I am SOOOOO excited to be featured on Style Me Pretty Canada!! One of my all time favourite blogs, and it always makes my heart flutter when I get to see my work grace their beautiful pages! Back in June, I had the amazing opportunity to not only collaborate with these INSANELY talented vendors, but to do so on a BOAT!! How fun is that?!! Having lived on the west coast my whole life, I have always had a soft spot for the ocean and do my best to never take it for granted. Looking to do a different sort of styled shoot, Kim Kalyn Photography and Clare Day Flowers came up with the idea of stripping back a wedding to its simplest form: an elopement. And what better spot to shot an elopement, then out at sea! I am so honoured that they asked me to help them pull it all together, as I couldn't think of a more fabulous crew of ladies to work alongside! Thank you so much to Melanie Baird Makeup Artist and Conscious Hair by Elena for making the ladies look even more beautiful, Tuktu Paper Co. for the awesome paper goods, as well at The White Peony and Citizen Clothing for the seriously fabulous attire! And a HUGE thank you, to my friend Richard, for taking us out on his gorgeous sailboat for the afternoon, and for being such a good Captain! And to make a great day even better, Paper Heart Films tagged along, and put together the sweetest behind the scenes video for us all...it is the cherry on top of an already wonderful shoot! Maren & Ben

Working on Maren & Ben's wedding, at the stunning Inn at Laurel Point, was a wedding planners dream come true! Not only were they an incredibly sweet and gracious couple, (with THE BEST sense of humour!) but they had an obvious appreciation for quality, and were totally committed to ensuring that their guests had an amazing time! Which is, in my opinion, the best priority to have! Originally from Germany, Maren had many guests travelling to Victoria for their wedding, and wanted to make sure that they were made to feel right at home. So with a nod to their international theme, amazing custom Passport invitations, were designed by the extremely talented Tuktu Paper Co. Many of the paper goods by Tuktu, were done in both English & German, including my favourite, the Bi-lingual Phrases to know/Escort card. It had the basics, like "My name is...", and "Do you know the Bride/Groom", and then the super handy ones like, "My room number is...." and "I've had too much to drink. Please don't take me seriously" (which in case you were wondering, is "Ich habe zu viel getrunken, nimm mich bitte nicht ernst." in German)

Dahlia's and Baby's-breath were the flowers of choice, and were the perfect fit for the soft grey, pink & green colour palette; Clare Day Flowers went above and beyond to deliver some of the most romantic and fresh florals around! And to top it all off, pink and blue slippers were provided to all the guests, to ensure that they could party the night away to Jason Cook's band, The Adults!! A HUGE thank you to the wickedly talented, Jon-Mark Photo, for the fabulous photo's below! And thank you to Maren & Ben, for asking me to be a part of your wedding! I had the most incredible time working with you both on the planning and design, and couldn't have asked for a more lovely Bride & Groom!
